Farmland Preservation

Preserving the agricultural land in our county for generations to come is of great importance to the Marion Soil and Water Conservation District.

The Marion Soil and Water Conservation District serves as a Local Sponsor for the Ohio Department of Agriculture’s Farmland Preservation Program (Local Agricultural Easement Purchase Program). Through it, farmland owners are provided funding to place an agricultural easement on their property. The easement is a voluntary and legally binding restriction placed on a farm that will forever protect the farmland from development.
